Skill Development Programme on “Machine Learning Techniques & Data Visualization Tools”
A Skill Development Program (SDP) was organized by the Department of Information Technology, Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College, A. Rangampet. The SDP was organized for two days i.e., January 19-20, 2018 for the benefit of students of III B. Tech- IT. About 94 students actively participated and gained useful information from all the sessions.
Day 1: 19-01-2018 (Friday)
The Skill Development Program was addressed by Dr. K. Ramani, HOD of IT & Convener of the Programme, at 9:00 A.M. The first session was initiated by Mr. A. Srinivasulu, Associate Professor of IT, SVEC from 9.15 AM – 11.15 AM, and he handled session on ‘Overview of SPARK’ highlighting the features of SPARK and the differences between SPARK and Hadoop. The students interacted with the resource person and found the interaction very informative.
Dr. O. Obulesu, Associate Professor of IT, SVEC handled a session from 11.30 AM – 1.30 PM, and delivered a lecture on ‘Basics of R Studio, Loops, Functions, Data Frames and Aggregations’. The students interacted with resource person and discussed about implementation of algorithms and datasets they are analysing in their academic & research work.
Mr. A. Srinivasulu, Associate Professor of IT, SVEC, demonstrated ‘SPARK Framework and its Ecosystem’ during 2:00 PM – 3.30 PM session. The students were fascinated with implementation of machine learning algorithms such as K-means and K-nearest neighbors.
Dr. O. Obulesu, Associate Professor of IT, SVEC, handled a practical session on ‘Implementation of Association Rules Learning and Linear Regression using R-Studio’ from 3:45 PM – 5.00 PM
Day 2: 20-01-2018 (Saturday)
Mr. Anki Reddy Polu, Lead Engineer, SoftwareAG Chennai Development Center, demonstrated ‘Elastic Search and Kibana Framework and Anatomy of a Kibana Tool’ from 9:00 AM – 11.00 AM. The students interacted with resource person and he clarified their doubts.
Mr. Ramesh Ragala, Senior Assistant Professor of SCSE, Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai demonstrated all the features and options involved in ‘Tableau Visualization Tool’ from 11.15 AM – 1.15 PM. The students interacted with him to discuss about advanced data visualization methods used in Tableau.
Mr. Anki Reddy Polu, Lead Engineer, SoftwareAG Chennai development center, delivered a lecture on ‘Kibana installation and dashboard creation’ from 1:45 PM–3.45 PM. The students interacted with him to discuss about real time analytics on Kibana and Elastic search.
Mr. Ramesh Ragala, Senior Assistant Professor of SCSE, Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai, demonstrated ‘Integration of R with Tableau and Simple Machine Learning Techniques such as Decision Trees, K-means Clustering Algorithm using R Studio Tool’ between 4:00 PM – 5.30 PM.
